Consumer Reports Rank Chiropractic Tops for Back Pain

April 28th, 2009

A recent subscriber survey by the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Centre found chiropractic care had the highest rate of patient satisfaction among back pain sufferers.

The survey, which was published in the April issue of Consumer Reports magazine, questioned more than 14,000 subscribers who had experienced back pain in the past year but had not had back surgery.

Respondent reported that their back pain had a negative impact on many aspects of their lives, including sleep, their ability to maintain a healthy weight and their sex lives.  In seeking treatment for their back pain, those surveyed tried an average of between five and six treatments, and 59 percent reported being highly satisfied with chiropractic care-the highest patient satisfaction rate of the 23 treatments measured.

Complete results of the survey can be found in the April issue of Consumer Reports magazine.  Non-subscribers can view report highlights on the Consumer Reports website, at:  www.consumerreports.org/health.
